The weekend before last, I took Isabella to pick some pumpkins at Pick your own Pumpkins in Sevington, near Ashford. I had actually heard about this place last year but for one reason or another we didn’t make it. This year I was adamant I would take her especially as she seems to have embraced the whole Halloween experience! We went with my friend and her little girl and the two of them had such fun.
It was really easy to get to and there was parking on the field right near the entrance. It’s free parking and entry and the pumpkins range in price from £1-4 and each pumpkin bought means a donation to their chosen charity of the year which I think is such a lovely idea, not only are you having fun, you’re also donating to a good cause. You can borrow one of their wheelbarrows to collect all your pumpkins. I would really recommend taking some strong bags to put them in once you’ve paid to avoid getting your car dirty as they are a bit muddy, some gloves or wipes to clean your hands and definitely bring wellies 🙂 They also had a glitter tattoo station for the kids (Isabella got a rainbow spider in keeping with the Halloween theme!) and a coffee cart.
As soon as we got there, the girls were running off amongst the sea of gorgeous orange pumpkins and we probably spent a couple of hours just wandering around, choosing and unchoosing pumpkins and doing little competitions to find the smallest pumpkin, biggest, funniest looking etc which the girls thought was great fun. They also found a little worm and took it in turns to hold him until they put him safely back in the ground. In the end we bought one large, two medium, one small and lots of little baby pumpkins all for £10 which I thought was really reasonable.
All in all it was a great morning out and I think we’ll be making it an annual event, hopefully next year we’ll bring Joshua too. Now we just have the task of carving all our pumpkins!!
Here are some photos of our morning, I even managed to get a rare photo of me and my little girl which my friend kindly took.
